IT Infrastructure

Greater and greater demand is being placed on IT infrastructure. Not only are the demands for it to be robust twenty four hours a day, but the software being deployed on it is more resource hungry than ever. Whilst the cost of hardware has reduced significantly, the cost to house and run it has not - in fact, both have sky rocketed. Software developers don’t feel this pain, and consequently do not factor it in when coding/designing systems and infrastructure. The business does, however, indirectly feel this pain through the cost. This is not just in terms of physical servers, but more worryingly bandwidth. Whilst, to a certain extent you can increase the number of servers and be smarter with what you have (virtualisation etc.), you only have so much bandwidth. Not only do you, as a company, have limited bandwidth but the internet in itself has its own limits. Already there is talk of ‘brownouts’ due to traffic on the net reaching unsustainable levels.

Diffusion, due to its efficiency and performance is a good answer to both these conundrums. Not only was it developed to be as efficient as possible, rather than taking the view that hardware (processors and memory) are cheap so why bother, but, due to its very purpose to disseminate data with little to no latency, means that a lot of work has been put into ensuring that it uses the minimal network bandwidth. In fact implementing sites have seen hardware and bandwidth consumption drop by up to 80%.

You can get an idea of the level of reduction in bandwidth you could expect from Diffusion by clicking here to use the reduction calculator tool.

Diffusion is a suite of enterprise message products that enable you to push and receive data and events to and from any, current or future, ‘net’ connected device.

Diffusion, the power behind net connected devices

Diffusion has a wide range of potential applications/uses. Depending on the business’ goals, each application will have a varying degree of appeal. Some example uses/cases are:

Why Diffusion?

By implementing Diffusion, you should achieve the following implicit and explicit rewards:
